God's Direction First *

2 Chronicles 18:3-4
3 for Israel’s King Ahab asked Judah’s King Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead?”
He replied to him, “I am as you are, my people as your people; we will be with you in the battle.” 4 But Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “First, please ask what the Lord’s will is.”

Ahab and Jehoshaphat had a very close alliance. When Ahab asks Jehoshaphat if he would go to battle with him, Jehoshaphat affirms their alliance and says he would, BUT "FIRST, please ask what the Lord's will is."

Many times through out our lives we are asked by others, both close to and not so close to us, to engage in certain activities or to go certain directions. Often times those offers and friendships seem good to us and are great opportunities. However, may we learn a great lesson from King Jehoshaphat, no matter how great the friendship or opportunity, let us always BUT FIRST ask the Lord what his will is!
